Hello, I'm Raúl Casado 👋
I’m a web developer with experience in real applications and production projects. I like working close to the product, understanding the problem before writing code, and building maintainable solutions.
I currently work on developing and maintaining full-stack features in enterprise projects, combining legacy code, new functionality, databases, push notifications, and multi-timezone systems. Outside of work, I keep learning through my blog and personal projects, applying and documenting what I build in real cases.
It started with a degree in Web Application Development, where the urge to understand how things actually work became hard to switch off. Python, React, and Flask came next — on my own time — and that background now translates into a stack that covers everything from automation scripts to production interfaces.
What drives me is solving real problems with code. At work that means understanding the problem well before writing the first line; on personal projects, it means documenting what I build so it might be useful to someone else too.
Within web development, the backend is where I feel most comfortable — though I don't shy away from the frontend when the project calls for it. And I keep learning: there's always something new. Like another JS framework, but that's a whole other topic.

How I work
Programming, for me, is a process of understanding — not just shipping. Every project has its context, constraints, and trade-offs; the challenge is making good decisions with that information rather than always reaching for the most sophisticated solution. When something breaks, I'd rather understand why before moving on to the next fix.
When I'm not coding
When I'm not coding, I unwind with films, series, and video games — and more often than not, that turns into an idea. After playing Pokémon Guesser I ended up building my own version with different clues. The same thing happens when I see how others design their apps or websites: I start experimenting with my own.
